Get to Know Dr. Joe
Dr. Joe is a Mitchell, South Dakota, native. In 1992, he joined the family optometry practice, continuing a long-standing family legacy. His passion for optometry is rooted in both his love of optics and his commitment to providing exceptional patient care.
Despite having more than thirty years of experience, Dr Joe remains dedicated to advancing his knowledge and skills. He has pursued additional education and certifications in ocular disease treatment and management, ocular surgical procedures, laser therapy, and veterans’ examinations. Providing his patients with readily available lenses (including the patented Neurolens®) from their onsite, full-service optical laboratory is one of his greatest passions.
Outside of the clinic, you can often find Dr. Joe riding the Lake Mitchell bike trails—even after dark! He also shares his love of cycling with his involvement in Mitchell’s annual Tour de Corn bike ride.
Dr. Joe and his wife, Julie, have two grown children. In their free time, they enjoy cheering on the Minnesota Vikings and spending time boating on Lake Mitchell.
